Most traditional martial art programs rely on striking with kicks and punches to defend. This in our opinion, will not only have both parties get hurt, but may have a negative impact if your child decides to use these techniques to bully other children.
Training is usually practiced through form with no resistance (like puching the air or kicking mitts) with sparring coming much later. This in our opinion tends to give a false sense of security as training with no resistance is totally different in real life.
Technique and form are practiced every session with usually no explanation on real life application.
Brazilian Jiujitsu is defensive by nature. This means all techniques concentrate on control and diffusion. We utilize no strikes, and put emphasis on defusing confrontations first through words, then if necessary, nonviolent neutralizing techniques
Due to the non violent close contact nature of jiujitsu, training with resistance is not only safe to practice on day 1, but a must! This in our opinion gives our students a more realistic experience on what a real life situation may feel like.
Our programs do not stop at the practice of techniques, but rather the emphasis on real life scenarious through role playing. This goes beyond physical techniques, but verbal techinques as well.
